Pieces generally attributed to Atlee can be identified by a single outline in the crosses (British Union) of Britannia’s shield and large triangular dentils along the coin circumference. The more-valuable American-made pieces are not to be confused with the similar English-made George III counterfeits (some of which have identical dates), or with genuine British halfpence dated 1770 to 1775.
