headquarters in Shanghai on 27 May 1897. By the end of 1899,

the bank had opened offices in Baoding, Guangdong, Chongqing,

Fuzhou, Hankou, Hong Kong, Beijing, Shantou, Tianjin, Yantai,

and Zhenjiang, although not all branches issued notes.
