On 1 June 1948, the Bank of Inner Mongolia (B27701) was reorganized as the People’s Bank of Inner Mongolia (PIM) in accordance with Article 11 of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Government’s Policy Program. Its headquarters was in Ulanhot.

On 1 April 1951, the People’s Bank of Inner Mongolia was subsumed into the People’s Bank of China (B4001), with People’s Bank of Inner Mongolia banknotes exchangeable at a ratio of 10 RMB to 95 PIM yuan.
