The Bank of Chinan series of China Communist Banks in the World Currency contains 64 distinct entries.

The Bank of Chinan (BCN) was established on 15 October 1939, with Gao Jiecheng as the first president. Although Chinan is shorthand for southern Hebei Province, the Bank of Chinan operated over a wider area, namely the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan border regions, with its headquarters in the district of Taihang, Shanxi Province. By October 1947, there were four district branches, 22 prefecture-level branches, and 174 county and city-level sub-branches.

In October 1948, Jinan Bank merged with the Bank of Shansi, Chahar and Hopei (B23901) to form the Bank of North China (not known to have issued any banknotes). Two months later, in December 1948, the Bank of North China was subsumed into the People’s Bank of China (B4001).
