1935-S Half Dollar MS Values

Details

From this year to the end of the series, the 1935-S is the rarest Mint State Walker. A relative rarity as it is not simply rare but just tougher to locate than other coins from 1935 to 1947. This issue is very common, as circulated pieces go, through MS63. After which point it begins to climb the scarcity ladder from MS64 through MS66. The small amount of existing MS67’s are very rare. It is known to have both a strong strike, unusual for Walkers out of San Francisco, and luster.

up This coin is made of 90% silver; 10% copper and has a current melt value of $26.26

Obverse: Liberty portrayed standing on a rock, facing left, with flowing robes and her right hand outstretched with a star-covered drapery flowing behind her. I bright sun, with extended rays is rising from the horizon on the lower left. The word LIBERTY frames the periphery and date appears at the bottom center. and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is in the right field.

Reverse: A large eagle perched on a rock, facing left with wings elevated in a defensive posture. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR appear on the periphery. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM sits atop a small olive branch left of the eagle. The mintmark is small, and placed below the olive branch near the left rim.
