1916-S Half Dollar MS Values
Details
The 1916-S Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a much tougher date, coming from a mintage of only 508,000, in which only 3 other dates in the series are lower. All grades are uncommon but become quite scarce in the MS60 to MS65 range. Mint State examples of this date are known to be fairly well struck with average luster. MS66’s are rare with just a couple of MS67’s that are extremely rare.
Obverse: Liberty portrayed standing on a rock, facing left, with flowing robes and her right hand outstretched with a star-covered drapery flowing behind her. I bright sun, with extended rays is rising from the horizon on the lower left. The word LIBERTY frames the periphery and date appears at the bottom center. and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST is in the right field. The mint mark appears below the motto.
Reverse: A large eagle perched on a rock, facing left with wings elevated in a defensive posture. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and HALF DOLLAR appear on the periphery. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM sits atop a small olive branch left of the eagle.
