1879 Quintuple Stella, Copper Pattern 20 Dollars PR RB J-1644 Values

Details

1879 Metric $20. So-called “Quintuple” Stella.

Obverse: As J-1642, except with decimal point inserted between 3 and 5 on the obverse legend, having it now as: *30*G*1,5*S*3.5*C*35*G*R*A*M*S*.

Reverse: The reverse features a heraldic eagle bearing a shield on its breast and carrying an olive branch and arrows in its talons. Bracketing the eagle is a banner with the motto E PLURIBUS / UNUM; above, the legend DEO EST GLORIA is enclosed in an oval of 13 stars, with rays emanating above. Around the perimeter are the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and TWENTY DOLLARS.
