(1852) Gold Pattern Half Dollar PR J-135 Values
Details
Undated Gold Half Dollar. Experimental or concept piece. Impressions were struck in gold from a die pair hastily combined. The pieces have large perforation at the center to enable a half dollar’s worth of gold to be coined in a diameter larger than otherwise would be possible. Two perforated blank planchets also exist.
Obverse: Impression from a plain die, half dime size, with dentils surrounding the border.
Reverse: The regular half dime die of the year.
