1850 Mormon 5 Dollar Gold MS K-5 Values
Details
Records indicate that around 4,000 1850 Mormon $5s were struck after new punches and dies were fashioned in March of 1850. Somewhere between 50 and 75 examples are known in private hands, and an average example would grade Choice XF. A handful of pieces have graded MS61 or MS62, and an attractive, original AU58 would rate the Condition Census. Several examples exhibit strike weakness at 3:00 on both the obverse and reverse due to misaligned dies.
Obverse: Eye and Cap with nine stars around HOLINESS.TO.THE.LORD.
Reverse: Clasped Hands 1850 G.S.L.C.P.G FIVE.DOLLARS
