Details

The Kagin-17 is the most readily available Bechtler half eagle, with over 100 examples extant. It shares an obverse die with the Kagin-Transitional, Kagin-16, and Kagin-18 half eagles. The Kagin-17’s new reverse die resembles the Kagin-16 reverse but has the word DOLLARS equidistant from 5 and AT RUTHERFORD. The same reverse die is also paired with two GEORGIA GOLD obverses (K-21 and K-22). Kagin-17 is generally available graded XF/AU, and around a dozen or so mint state examples exist.
