1955 Doubled Die Obverse One Cent MS RD FS-102
Details
Very strong doubling is evident on the motto, with some slight doubling visible on LIBERTY. The spread is strong, though the secondary hubbing was somewhat weak.
This is an extremely popular variety among Lincoln cent collectors and variety specialists. Were it not for its more famous and dramatic cousin (1955 Doubled Die Obverse, FS-101) this would be considered a fantastic doubled die. Late die states with less dramatic doubling aren't worth as much.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.
Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
