1917-S One Cent MS RD Values
Details
The 1917-S Lincoln cent is a semi-key coin in all grades and becomes notably scarce at a grade level as low as XF40. Red uncirculated examples are rare and would require much searching to locate one even in the MS63-64 range. Only a few dozen examples are believed to exist at the MS65RD level and but a tiny handful are known in or approaching the grade of MS66RD. This issue is definitely one that keeps registry set collectors busily looking through auction catalogs for the opportunity to purchase a nice specimen.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.
Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
