The first Denver-mint issue for the Lincoln cent series, the 1911-D penny is a semi-key coin that is quite scarce across all grades. This piece is very scarce in uncirculated grades, with pieces grading MS65RD or better proving a true challenge. While the strike on the 1911-D Lincoln cent is generally not so great, the color on Red specimens is generally deep and rich.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portrait and the date and mintmark (If any) positioned on the right side.
Reverse: Wheat ears flanking the words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. The motto E PLURIBUS UNUM on the top perimeter.
