1869 Five-Cent Piece / 1869 Cent. A nonsensical mule for the numismatic trade. This piece could be listed earlier under a cent, taking the lower of the two denominations, but here the Judd sequence is preserved.10 Moreover, it is struck on a nickel planchet.
Obverse: Regular Shield nickel die of the year.
Reverse: Actually an obverse die, the 1869 Indian Head cent.
