The United States utilized a two-cent coin for just ten years, from 1864 to 1873.
Bechtler’s 21-carat issues first appeared sometime after 1836. They are relatively plentiful, despite being issued for a short period of time. The Kagin-20 half eagle is the second most available Bechtler $5, with approximately 100 pieces in private hands; however, attractive, uncirculated coins are quite difficult to locate.
