The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Baltona Przedsiębiorstwo Handlu Zagranicznego series of Poland in the World Currency contains 11 distinct entries with CPG® values between $4.00 and $15.00.
The state-run Baltona Przedsiębiorstwo Handlu Zagranicznego (Baltona Foreign Trade Company, PHZ) was founded in 1949 and located in the northern seaports of Gdynia and Szczecin. Polish sailors received a portion of their salaries in foreign currencies. If not cashed in on board or spent overseas, foreign currencies were converted into US dollars and deposited into special accounts in Poland. Funds could be withdrawn only in the form of the following vouchers, which could be spent only in special Baltona shops offering Western goods.
