The Meyers & Company (1850) series of Private & Pioneer Gold in the U.S. Coins contains 1 distinct entries.
The unique $18 Meyers & Company ingot is a 1-troy-ounce monetary ingot. Unlike the Moffat $16 ingots, which had a stamped (and often inaccurate) fineness, the Meyers ingot lists its weight and value, and is stamped U.S. STANDARD WARRANTED in an apparent reference to the US standard for weight, rather than to the ingot’s purity. The bar shows evidence of light circulation, and bears a small test cut on its upper edge. It weighs .999 ounces troy, presumably due to the test cut. Independent XRF tests conducted by PCGS have confirmed that it is .934 fine gold, alloyed primarily with silver, a composition consistent with that of unrefined California gold, and within the reported range of gold assayed at the Philadelphia Mint in 1850 (.714 to .957, according to Eckfeldt & Dubois).
