The Government of the East Africa Protectorate series of East Africa in the World Currency contains 52 distinct entries.
On 1 July 1895, the East Africa Protectorate (also known as British East Africa) was formed following the revocation of the charter of the Imperial British East Africa Company, a commercial enterprise lead by William Mackinnon, a Scottish ship-owner and businessman. Initially the protectorate occupied roughly the same terrain as present-day Kenya, although the territory of Uganda was incorporated in 1902.
