The Kiöbenhavnske Assignation- Vexel- og Laane- Banque (Copenhagen Note, Exchange, and Mortgage Bank; KAV) was established by royal charter on 29 October 1736, and opened for business in March 1737. This private joint stock company was commonly known as Kongelisgt Oktroyerede Bank (Royally Chartered Bank), Københavnske Bank (Copenhagen Bank), and since 1791, as Kurantbanken (Current Bank).
