The Union Bank of Burma series of Burma in the World Currency contains 41 distinct entries.

The Union Bank of Burma (UBB) Act of 1947 established the UBB on 3 February 1948, taking over the central banking functions of the Rangoon branch of the Reserve Bank of India, which had served as the central bank of Burma since 1935. However, the currency system of Burma was still managed by the Burma Currency Board in London. Thus, it wasn’t until 1 July 1952 that the UBB was bestowed the full prerogative of a central bank with the new Union Bank of Burma Act, which was passed by the Chamber of Deputies on 17 March 1952. Under this act, the UBB took over the sole right of note issue and other traditional central bank functions from the Burma Currency Board. This act also changed the official name of the Burmese monetary unit from the rupee to the kyat, divided into one hundred pyas.
