1878 Silver Dollar

Obverse: Morgan’s design, Liberty Head facing left, E PLURIBUS UNUM above, seven stars left, six stars right, date 1878 below. Two obverse die varieties exist.

Reverse: Perched eagle holding arrows and olive branch, the branch with just three leaves, and thus different from the circulating design. IN GOD WE TRUST in Gothic letters above the eagle, wreath below and to the sides of the eagle. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / ONE DOLLAR around border. The exact style as used on the J-1508 and J-1509 half dollars of 1877.
