1876 Doubled Die Reverse Twenty cents MS FS-801 Values

Details

Doubled die reverse variety. The 1876 Twenty Cent Piece is slightly scarcer then its lone Philadelphia Mint counterpart from 1875 both of which are part of this extremely short series that is highly desired by collectors. It comes from a genuinely low mintage of just 14,640 but it is still common in every grade up to and including MS64. From MS61 through MS64 there are 6 total PL examples in NGC holders, which is the grand total for this date. Although it does exist in MS65 through MS67, there are only 106 PCGS and NGC graded examples remaining in existence according to population reports. There are 71 in the MS65 range that are tough to come by and 33 MS66's that are even more scarce. It is the 5 MS67's that are truly rare and are meant for finest known registry sets and advanced type collectors.

Obverse: Lady Liberty is seated on a rock, holding a staff, and bearing a shield with the word LIBERTY on a flowing ribbon. 13 stars have adorn the periphery and the date appears at the bottom center.

Reverse: An eagle is prominently featured with the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * TWENTY CENTS around the periphery.
