1870 Trime. Made in quantity as a numismatic curiosity, the obverse apparently being intended for the Standard Silver five-cent piece of this year, and the reverse being a slightly mismatched (in terms of diameter) trime die.

Obverse: Barber’s Liberty Seated design, with figure seated, facing left, with her right hand supporting a shield, liberty cap on pole behind, and with an olive branch in her left hand. UNITED STATES to left, OF AMERICA to right, date 1870 below.

Reverse: Regular die used to coin silver three-cent pieces.
