Obverse: Liberty head facing left, LIBERTY on ribbon, star at top of ribbon, hair tied behind. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA surrounding, 1868 below.

Reverse: Wreath of laurel and oak leaves enclosing 5 DOLLARS / 25 FRANCS.
