1867 3-Cent Silver MS Values
Details
The 1867 Three Cent Silver comes from a miniscule mintage of 4,000 making it a very scarce date. This date is tough to find at any grade level but genuine scarcity begins in the AU range. MS60 and MS62 are very scarce. MS63 and MS64 are rare and all gems are extremely rare. This issue is normally well struck and clash-marks are surprisingly not an issue. Look for attractive toners as nice color is not too hard to find.
Obverse: A six-pointed star with a harp in the center is surrounded by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the periphery and the date positioned at the bottom. For the type III issues (1859-73) there is a single frame line around the star.
Reverse: The roman numeral III is centered in the design ensconced in a large, bejeweled letter C surrounded by 13 stars on the periphery. An olive sprig is added above the roman numerals.
