1861 Half Dollar. Patterns originally issued in December 1861 to test the concept of a motto on coinage. Copper impressions usually with bronzed surfaces. Obverse die varieties exist.

Obverse: Regular Liberty Seated die of the year.

Reverse: Design similar to the regular issue except with GOD OUR TRUST on scroll above the eagle.
