1853 Silver Pattern 3 Cents PR J-153 Values

Details

1853 Trime. Transitional pattern coined on April 10, 1853. Not seen since 1867 Mickley sale.

Obverse: Shield mounted on a six-pointed star but with a triple border around the star, this being different from the regular issue; the so-called Type II style regularly adopted in 1854.

Reverse: The regular dies used to strike 1854 trimes, known as the Type II design, with olive sprig above III and three arrows below, within the ornamental letter C.
