Details

The second variety of Moffat & Company eagle was struck using a reverse die with the period after GOLD placed above the center arrowhead. The Kagin-6a is more commonly encountered than the K-6, with 40-50 examples known, 11 of which were found on the S.S. Central America.

Obverse: Liberty Head with MOFFAT & Co on diadem 1849 thirteen stars around.

Reverse: Federal Eagle S.M.V. CALIFORNIA GOLD. TEN DOL. Period above middle arrow.
