Details

Regular issue. 1,000 struck by December 31, 1836, coin-turn die alignment; 600 more struck from same dies in early 1837, medal-turn alignment. In addition, restrikes were made with alignment III, 1860s to 1870s. Grades range from well worn to Proof. Not a pattern, but a regular issue that has been listed in the pattern series and until recent decades generally regarded as a pattern—until the history of the piece was carefully studied.

Obverse: Liberty Seated design, no stars in field. C GOBRECHT. F. in recessed letters on base. Date in field below.

Reverse: Eagle flying amid 26 stars.
