The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Federal Reserve Bank Notes - Small series of Small Size Notes in the U.S. Currency contains 79 distinct entries with CPG® values between $25.00 and $44,000.00.
Small-size Federal Reserve bank notes were issued in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100 with the following obligation:"National Currency secured by United States bonds deposited with the Treasurer of the United States of America or by like deposit of other securities The [name of the bank and city] will pay to the bearer on demand ["X"] dollars redeemable in lawful money of the United States at United States Treasury of at the bank of issue."
All small-size Federal Reserve bank notes were issued as the Series of 1929 and have a brown seal. All of these notes are now obsolete, and many issues are scarce even in well-circulated condition. According to some estimates, a combined 300 Star Notes are known to exist among all small-size Federal Reserve bank notes, making these pieces especially collectible and valuable.
