On 24 June 1939, Siam (สยาม) changed its name to Thailand (ไทย). By decree of 7 March 1940, the name of the new issuer (Government of Thailand, GOV) was reflected on banknotes. Because the issuer remains the Ministry of Finance even though the name of the country changed, the signature numbers for the Government of Thailand issues continue where the Government of Siam ends.
