The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Seated Dollars, Proof (1840–1873) series of Dollars in the U.S. Coins contains 4 distinct entries with CPG® values between $15,000.00 and $450,000.00.

Liberty Seated dollars were struck from 1840 through 1873, following production of their predecessor patterns (known as "Gobrecht dollars") from 1836 through 1839. All dates of the Liberty Seated dollar series proper and restrikes of the patterns are represented with proofs.

The major sub-varieties in the Liberty Seated dollar series are:

Variety 1: No Motto Above Eagle (1840-1865)

Variety 2: With Motto Above Eagle (1866-1873)

Proof Liberty Seated dollars from the 1860s and 1870s are slightly more common than their earlier counterparts. Cameo and deep cameo proof Liberty Seated dollars command higher prices than listed for more typical specimens with duller surfaces and devoid of cameo frost on the devices.
