The Banca Generalâ Romană series of Romania in the World Currency contains 16 distinct entries.
During World War I, the Banca Naţională a României moved from the capital of Bucharest to the second largest city, Iași (also referred to as Jassy or Iassy) on 15 November 1916, then went to Petrograd under the protection and guarantees offered by the Russian government. The German military administration seized the bank’s head office and assets in Bucharest and operated as the Banca Generalâ Romană (Romanian General Bank, BGR).
