The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Sultanate of Muscat and Oman series of Muscat and Oman in the World Currency contains 18 distinct entries with CPG® values between $3.00 and $500.00.
The Sultanate of Muscat and Oman existed from mid-1856 until mid-1970. Until 1970, Oman had no institution to supervise the monetary and banking system. With the introduction of its own national currency, a need arose to establish an authority to deal with currency management, and the Muscat Currency Authority was established in 1970 for the purpose of printing, issuing, redeeming, managing, and safekeeping of the new currency, although this name does not appear on the notes.
