The Board of Commissioners of Currency (BCC), Malaya and British Borneo, was established on 1 January 1952, to provide a common currency for Brunei, the Federation of Malaya, North Borneo, Sarawak, and Singapore. The Malaya and British Borneo dollar replaced (at par) the British North Borneo dollar, Malayan dollar (also used in Brunei and Singapore), and Sarawak dollar. Like its predecessors, it was pegged at one dollar to 2 shillings 4 pence sterling.
