The Greysheet Catalog (GSID) of the Føroyar series of Faroe Islands in the World Currency contains 56 distinct entries with CPG® values between $4.00 and $550.00.
An independence referendum on 14 September 1946 found the Faroese public split on the issue of secession from Denmark. The home-rule law passed on 23 March 1948 ended the Faroe Islands’ status as a Danish county; instead it became an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark, named Føroyar (FOR) in Faroese. Domestic matters are under local control while military, police, justice, currency, and foreign affairs remain the responsibility of Denmark.
