On 16 December 1948, the name of the issuing bank officially changed from the Banque de l’Algérie to the Banque de l’Algérie et de la Tunisie (Bank of Algeria and Tunisia, BAT). The bank issued specific notes intended for use in each country, but in practice all the notes circulated in both countries (see Tunisia B301).
