1999-S Close AM One Cent PR RD CAM Values
Details
Following up on a similar variety erroneously produced in 1998, some 1999-S Lincoln proof cents were struck using the 1999 business-strike reverse die, showing the bases of the letters A and M in the word AMERICA nearly touching each other. This error can be seen with the naked eye and has become very popular with Lincoln cent enthusiasts. While it is unknown exactly how many exist, it is certainly a scarce error that realizes easily hundreds of dollars apiece, with some better examples taking thousands.
Obverse: Bust of Abraham Lincoln framed by IN GOD WE TRUST on the top periphery. The word LIBERTY to the left of the portait and the date postioned on the right side.
Reverse: Lincoln memorial building centered with words ONE CENT, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on top and bottom periphery. E PLURIBUS UNUM centered above the top of the memorial.
