1922 Grant Memorial Gold dollar MS with Star Values
Details
The 1922 Grant With Star gold commemorative dollar honors the 100th anniversary of Ulysses S. Grant's birth. The former Civil War general and president is honored on this coin with an obverse portrait, designed by Laura Gardin Fraser.
There are two types of Grant gold dollars, including those with a star in the right obverse field and one without -- in similar fashion to the two varieties of complementary Grant half dollars. The Grant With Star gold commemorative dollar is about as common as examples without the star. It is frequently encountered in grades of MS62-66, with MS67s proving much scarcer.
