1889 One Cent PR RD Values
Details
At a mintage as high as 3,336, the 1889 proof Indian Cent makes for a fantastic type coin. Brown pieces are common along with red-brown; only the finest gems are scarce. Full red gems are scarce also, with the finest ones being very rare. Any grade with a cameo is at the very least scarce with high Mint State grades being rare. Attractively toned brown pieces or blazing red surfaces are the most coveted and are not very difficult to come across.
Obverse: A portrait bearing the likeness of a Native American in full headdress framed by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. The date is centered at the bottom under the portrait.
Reverse: The reverse bears the denomination of ONE CENT in the center surrounded by a wreath bearing a ribbon with arrows tied in at the bottom center.
