1884-S One Dollar MS Values
Details
The 1884-S Morgan dollar is a very tough coin beginning even as low as the AU levels. Cumulatively, the estimated number of MS examples in any uncirculated grade is only in the low thousands. Thus, all uncirculated examples are essentially rare in the arena of the popular, high-demand Morgan dollar series. There is a handful of pieces existing higher than MS65, and these trade for extraordinary prices. PLs are extremely rare in any grade and DMPLs are essentially non-existent.
Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.
Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
