1882-O GSA Hoard, Soft Package One Dollar MS Values
Details
While most GSA Morgan dollars were struck at the Carson City Mint, a small fraction of these GSA Hoard coins were made at other mint facilities. Such is the case with some 1882-O Morgan dollars, of which a small fraction were released from US Treasury hoard in the 1970s and early 1980s and sold as part of the Great Silver Sale program that originally launched in 1972. .
Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.
Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
