1882-O GSA Hoard, Hard package One Dollar MS Values
Details
While most GSA Morgan dollars were struck at the Carson City Mint, a small fraction of these GSA Hoard coins were made at other mint facilities. Such is the case with some 1882-O Morgan dollars, of which a small fraction were released from US Treasury hoard in the 1970s and early 1980s and sold as part of the Great Silver Sale program that originally launched in 1972. Examples of 1882-O GSA Morgan dollars in hard packs are rare.
Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom.
Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA * ONE DOLLAR frame the periphery. Mint mark, if any, appears above the letters DO of DOLLAR.
