1881 Hawaii Nickel PR DCAM Aluminum Restrike, Thick Planchet Values

Details

1881 Hawaii five cent pieces were a private pattern issue, struck at the Paris Mint. Those coins display a cross at the top of the crown. Years later, "restrikes" of the 1881 Hawaii five cent were made from copy dies. They have a proof finish, and lack a cross at the top of the crown. The "restrike" issue is known in both nickel and aluminum, and were struck with thin or thick planchets. 3.1mm thickness
