1872 One Cent PR RD
Details
The 1872 comes from a somewhat lower mintage of 950. Scarce only as a high-end gem with brown color. Otherwise, this coin is quite common. The same applies to those coins with red-brown surfaces with scarcity starting at PR65. Full red examples are even more scarce. The 1872 is only rare if there are cameo surfaces. Beautifully toned brown pieces or blazing red surfaces are the most desirable and are worth the search.
Obverse: A portrait bearing the likeness of a Native American in full headdress framed by the words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. The date is centered at the bottom under the portrait.
Reverse: The reverse bears the denomination of ONE CENT in the center surrounded by a wreath bearing a ribbon with arrows tied in at the bottom center.
