Obverse: Liberty Head by Longacre, facing right, wearing Phrygian cap, three stars above forehead, ribbon with LIBERTY at neck, stars surrounding, date 1860 below.

Reverse: Perched eagle with undulating ribbon above head, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / FIVE DOLLARS around border; V is an inverted A.
