Heritage’s June 15, 2026 U.S. Coins Early Holders Showcase Auction realized $619,141, underscoring the continued strength of the market for premium-quality certified coins housed in vintage PCGS and NGC holders. The event attracted collectors and registry-set participants seeking desirable early-holder examples, Gold CAC-certified coins and conditionally scarce U.S. numismatic rarities.
The auction featured an exceptional selection of coins housed in coveted PCGS “rattler,” green-label and early-generation holders, as well as popular NGC “fatty” holders. Demand remained particularly strong for coins carrying CAC and Gold CAC endorsements, reflecting collectors’ continued focus on quality, originality and long-term value.
Leading the auction was an 1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar graded MS67 by PCGS and housed in a Generation 3.1 green-label holder. Further enhanced by a coveted Gold CAC designation, the coin realized $19,520. The piece represents one of the finest Gold CAC-approved examples for the grade, attracting significant competition from advanced collectors of certified Morgan Dollars and vintage holder material.

Additional highlights included:
- An 1861 Liberty Seated Half Dime graded MS66 by NGC and housed in a desirable Generation 4 “fatty’ holder, which realized $7,930
- A 1934-S Peace Dollar graded MS63 by PCGS in a Generation 3.0 green-label holder, bringing $7,320
- A 1907 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagle graded MS61 by PCGS and approved by Gold CAC, housed in a Generation 3.0 green-label holder, which also realized $7,320
- An 1875-S Trade Dollar, Type One Reverse, Large S variety, graded MS64 by PCGS, which sold for $6,405
- A scarce 1797 Draped Bust Dollar, 9x7 Stars, Large Letters variety (B-1, BB-73), graded Fine 12 by PCGS and housed in a coveted Generation 1.2 rattler holder, which realized $6,100
The Early Holders Showcase Auction has become a premier venue for collectors pursuing coins housed in historic third-party grading holders, including PCGS rattlers, old green holders (OGHs), NGC fatty holders and other early-generation encapsulations. Heritage Auctions continues to lead the market for rare U.S. coins, certified coins, CAC-approved coins and vintage-holder rarities, offering collectors unparalleled access to some of the most sought-after numismatic material available today.
