For generations, specially minted coins have been given as special unique gifts to honour life's milestones,  and this specially designed coin continues that tradition beautifully. The Mint’s new 50 cent coin fits all purposes, and is the perfect gift to mark birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, baby arrivals, graduations, new jobs, promotions and sporting achievements.

Designed by Aleksandra Stokic, this uncirculated coin with vivid colour applied to elements of the design is a playful modern take on Stuart Delvin’s iconic original 50 cent piece first released in 1966 featuring Australia’s beloved kangaroo and emu shown as part of the coat of arms. Bright yellow dots represent the wattle, Australia’s national floral emblem since 1912. Delicate weave elements mirror the original ribbon motifs, blending tradition with creativity to capture the essence of celebration. Additional elements of the design also draw inspiration from the glow of gum leaves and the energy of typical summer markets. The numeral 50 representing the denomination in cents is placed just to the lower left. The obverse depicts the official Commonwealth Effigy of His Majesty King Charles III created by engraver Dan Thorne.

The legend surrounding the King’s likeness reads CHARLES III AUSTRALIA 2025.
